01 — What it is

What is SEOAgent for Grok Bot?

SEOAgent is the agent harness for SEO: a Skill, a CLI, and a cloud work queue that any coding agent can operate. Grok Bot is xAI's agent product — each Bot gets a persistent cloud computer with a browser, a command line and files — which is exactly the shape this harness wants, because the work survives between runs. The fastest way in is our public Bot template: add it to your account and the Bot mints its own setup code, installs the Skill, binds your account and reports back when it is done. With autopilot on, the cloud detects SEO gaps and queues change items into the Bot's inbox pre-approved (auto-approve is on by default), so the queue stages and refills itself and the loop never waits on a dashboard click.

Three steps, about three minutes

  1. Choose how you work. The card above asks once; pick Grok Bot and type your site.
  2. Add the Bot. Add to Grok Bot opens the public template; the Bot asks for your site and email, mints its own code and binds itself.
  3. Watch it bind. The card turns green the moment the code is redeemed; if nothing happens in three minutes it asks what you saw and routes you.
02 — How it works

How to set up Grok Bot with SEOAgent

1/ 6

Start from the SEOAgent Grok Bot template (fastest)

Open our public template at https://x.ai/bot/scYgD9jdFhooaSHihRzy7 and add it to your Grok Bot account. The Bot asks you for your domain and email, mints its own setup code from this page, installs the CLI and binds itself — usually in under a minute — and only reports done once the output says "Logged in as". If you take this path you can skip the next two steps.

2/ 6

Or generate a one-time setup code yourself

Enter your site (and email) in the card at the top of this page and we mint a single-use setup code, creating your SEOAgent account in the same step if you do not have one. No manual account binding inside the Bot. The page keeps watching the code and tells you the moment your Bot connects.

3/ 6

Paste the setup block into your Bot

The card gives you one copy-paste block: it installs the CLI (`npm install -g @seoagent-official/seoagent`), scaffolds the Skill and binds headlessly in one command with `seoagent init --code <your-code>`. Paste it into the Bot, which has a real command line — not into Grok chat, which cannot run commands. The code works exactly once. Generating a new code for the same site replaces the previous one.

4/ 6

Let the Bot run the content loop

Once bound, the Bot can audit your site, build a keyword strategy, write briefs, and ship articles and landing pages into your repo — the same loop Claude Code and Cursor users run, now on a Bot that never closes its laptop.

5/ 6

Turn on autopilot (paid)

With the paid upgrade, the cloud brain reads your synced site state plus Search Console data and queues prioritized change items — technical fixes, content updates, new content — into `.seoagent/inbox/` for the Bot to work on every `seoagent sync`.

6/ 6

Auto-approve keeps the loop running

Auto-approve is on by default: change items are staged automatically — including outreach drafts — so the queue refills and the Bot keeps shipping around the clock. Everything is logged to your timeline and reversible from the Review queue, and you can switch to review-first mode any time with `seoagent autopilot auto-approve off`.

03 — Capabilities

What Grok Bot does with SEOAgent

01

A template that sets itself up

Add our public Bot template and the Bot does its own onboarding: it mints the code, installs the CLI, binds the account and tells you when it is logged in. Nothing to configure by hand.

02

One-code onboarding

A single-use setup code provisions the account, binds the CLI, and connects your site — designed for bot harnesses where a browser login is a dead end.

03

Work that survives between runs

The Bot's computer is persistent, so `.seoagent/` and your auth stay put and a routine picks up where the last one stopped. A background routine can run while your laptop is closed.

04

24/7 work queue

Autopilot detects gaps from your site state and Search Console data, then queues typed change items the Bot picks up on every sync.

05

Auto-approve mode (on by default)

Staged change items arrive pre-approved so the Bot fulfills them without waiting on a dashboard click. Prefer to review each item first? One command turns it off; undo any item from the Review queue.

06

Technical SEO on autopilot

Metadata, schema, canonicals, internal links, sitemaps, and AI-readability files (llms.txt, OKF) — detected in the cloud, fixed by the Bot in your repo.

07

Content that compounds

Keyword research with real volume and difficulty, cloud-written briefs, and articles the Bot writes and publishes through your normal repo pipeline.

08

Link-building outreach

SEOAgent prospects and drafts outreach emails; your Bot sends approved drafts from your own email account. With auto-approve on, drafts stage themselves.

04 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Grok Bot and Grok chat?

Grok chat (grok.com, the X app) is a stateless chat: it can write you a title tag but it cannot crawl your site, read Search Console, or change a file. Grok Bot is xAI's agent product, launched in August 2026 — each Bot runs on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, a command line and files, and it is available on SuperGrok and on paid Cursor plans. SEOAgent needs the command line, so it works in Grok Bot and not in Grok chat. Pasting our setup block into Grok chat does nothing.

What is the fastest way to connect Grok Bot to SEOAgent?

Add our public Bot template (https://x.ai/bot/scYgD9jdFhooaSHihRzy7) to your account and let it drive: it asks for your domain and email, mints its own setup code, installs the CLI and binds your account, usually in under a minute. Every template install we have measured bound successfully. Minting a code by hand on this page and pasting the block into the Bot also works, and is the path to take if you already have a Bot you want to keep.

How do I connect a Grok Bot to SEOAgent without a browser?

Generate a one-time setup code in the card at the top of this page (seoagent.com/for/grok-bots). The code creates your account (if needed), and `seoagent init --code <code>` binds the Bot headlessly — no browser, no manual account linking inside the Bot.

Does the Bot need my permission for every change?

Not by default — auto-approve is on, so change items are staged automatically and the Bot fulfills them; everything is logged to your timeline and individual items can be undone from the Review queue. If you want to approve each item first, turn auto-approve off in Site settings or with `seoagent autopilot auto-approve off`.

Is SEOAgent free for Grok Bot?

The Skill and CLI are free, and the setup-code flow includes a free account with the cloud dashboard and Google Search Console. The 24/7 autopilot queue — which runs with auto-approve on by default — is part of the paid upgrade ($49 per site per month).

What does "agent harness for SEO" mean?

SEOAgent supplies everything an agent needs to do real SEO work: the Skill (the playbook), the CLI (the tools), the synced state (.seoagent/), and the cloud brain that queues prioritized work. Your Grok Bot supplies the hands. The same harness runs in Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.

How long does a setup code last, and what if my email already has an account?

A code minted on this page lives 24 hours and works exactly once; the copy we email you when the mint creates your account lives two weeks, and the activation emails carry a live code as well. Generating a new code for the same site replaces the previous one. An anonymous request never attaches to an existing account — if your email is registered, sign in first and mint the code from this page while logged in.

Does auto-approve send outreach emails on its own?

With auto-approve on (the default), qualified outreach drafts are staged for your Bot to send from your own email account. Prospecting is capped, drafts are LLM-written and grounded in a real audit of the prospect, and you can exclude outreach from auto-approve — or turn auto-approve off entirely — while keeping everything else.
